ANJANA DATTA’s BIOGRAPHY

Anjana Datta is a freelance journalist based at Panchkula, Haryana, in India. A prolific writer, she has been contributing substantially towards leading magazines and newspapers of India for the last several years.

Born on December 14, 1950 at Jalandhar, Punjab < ![endif]–><!–[if !vml]–><!–[endif]–>, In India, she was raised and educated from one of the better known schools of the city. Even as a young girl she always knew she wanted to be a writer. She shares her father’s interest in reading. Her father, a Bank Manager, Late Sh. J.R. Datta, presented her a book ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’ on her 14th birthday which had a profound and lasting impression on her. She frequently re-read it and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. She developed interest in reading. Later she did a fair amount of reading of both the serious and popular English literature.

After graduation from Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, she did M.A. in (Eco.) and Bachelor of Journalism from Panjab University, Chandigarh. While a student, she worked with Indian Express, New Delhi, as a trainee and learnt quite a lot. It gave her good exposure and also an opportunity to meet prominent personalities from all walks of life. After doing the course, she settled down at Chandigarh. She took to pen and started contributing towards various English magazines, periodicals and newspapers of India. During this period, she has met a number of prominent personalities from the whole strata of life and wrote extensively on various topics.

Anjana Datta has a flair for languages. She is proficient in English and German, Hindi and Punjabi. She has done Advanced Diploma in German from Panjab University, Mittelstufe (Eins) from Max Mueller Bhawan, Pune and M.A.(Prev.) in German from Karnataka University, Dharwad.

She can be contacted for coaching in German and English and also for translation work in German, English and Hindi.
