ASHA HOODA – A CHARMING LADY

Asha Hooda, wife of Bhoopinder Singh Hooda,

Chief Minister of Haryana, is an admirable woman.  Her

    charms are many.

A true representative of the State, she is equally

vigorous and equally energetic like her husband, in

undertaking voluntary affairs to help the needy and poor of the

State.  Humble people who come into contact with her,

can feel her warmth and geniality.  Her beaming

smile and engaging personality ensures a friendly

reception and she immediately puts you at ease.

In keeping with her position, she plays a conspicuous

role in the  affairs of the State by taking an enthusiastic

interest in the matters dear to her heart.  “I feel that

my job is to help my husband as much as possible and I do

whatever falls within my scope,” she remarks.

There is a sense of devotion to the causes that move her.

For instance, she has raised  the  most acute and vital

issue of female foeticide in the State which, in her own

words,”We cannot afford to ignore.”  Haryana is incidentally

a State where female foeticide  was very common.

The sex ratio was dismally very low two years ago.

To arrest the falling sex ratio in the State further, the

State Government launched a series of popular  schemes

for the girl child and adopted several measures to give

incentive to the people having girl child.  With the result,

Haryana now stands out as a shining example in

recovering the girl child ratio about a year and half ago.  The Government has also introduced some more schemes for the  health-care

and education of the women in the State.

Complimenting her husband for this says Asha,”The

most endearing work of the present Government is to serve the cause

of womanhood in the State.”  She believes that unless

women’s conditions are improved, they are encouraged to

take their responsible share in the political life and broaden

their outlook, the country will never realise its goal.

For this, according to her, education is a must for them so as to

make them enlightened citizens and self-reliant.

As Chief Minister’s wife, Asha’s life is hectic.  Her day

is a whirl of engagements and social commitments which go with her position.

While her husband is devoted to modernizing the State by

building schools, colleges and other  institutes and also at the

sametime providing an admirable and just administration

in the State, she takes an enthusiastic interest in everything from -

from commissioning a project for women to performing mass-

marriages of the poor and needy girls.

As  the country goes to polls, she is siding with her

husband for canvassing and wooing the voters.

But no matter how busy she is, her family always comes

first to her.  She has a son and a daughter.  Both of them are

well-settled in life.  Her son, Deepinder Singh Hooda, is the

youngest MP from the State in the Lok Sabha.  Her daugher,

Anjali, who did (Hons.) in Sociology from Delhi University and MBA from Indiana University in USA, lives with her husband, a financial

consultant with a MNC, at Gurgaon.  A deeply religious person, she is a

woman of varied interests.  She enjoys doing all the things

that make a house into a home – from decorating a house to arranging flowers

and trying new recipes etc.  A thoroughly well-read person, she enjoys watching TV and listening to old  melodies.  But above all, she loves

her people and wants to do her best like her husband, to make Haryana

a No.  one  State in the country.

All Good Luck to Her !

Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily this is not difficult.
