‘Book Fair’ – A Delight for Panchkula-ites
Author: Anjana Datta
Panchkula Sep.8- Panchkula-ites had really never it before such a treat
for spiritual and intellectual minds.
A nine-day ‘Book Fair’,organised by Shanti Kunj, Haridwar, was kicked off amidst much fun and fare on Sep.4 ,2009 at the Prachin Shiv Mandir, Sector 9 in Panchkula.
It is a pleasure to walk through the venue hall and get a feel of the Indian culture and tradition of the ancient rishis. Never ever have so many books – a total of 3200, and on so many different subjects ranging from Veds, Upnishads, Samhinta and scriptures to social, cultural and political – all written by one person Vedmurthi and Taponishtha Pt.Sri Ram Sharma Acharya, the founder of the Gayatri Parivar, were exhibited before in the city before. The care that has gone into the designing of almost every book-cover, invites you to stop and look at it. On display are also eye-catching slogans, posters, stickers, pendals and a wide variety of CDs and audio video casettes of Gayatri and Mahamrtuanjay Mantra. It is a pleasure to walk through the venue hall and get a feel of Indian culture and tradition of our rishis of the yore.
Hailed as the Yug-Rishi – a la Ved Vyas and Vishwamitra of modern times, Pt. Sri Ram Sharma Acharya had written 4 Veds, 108 Upnishads, 18 Purans and 200 scriptures in simple Hindi for the common man besides more than 3200 books on a wide range of subjects to propagate wisdom of the ancient rishis and also to revive the otherwise lost
and forgotten Divine Light of Yug Shakti Gayatri Mantra.
Born on September 20, 1911 in Anwalkheda, district Agra in a family of
learned persons and aristocrat landlords, Acharya ji was drawn to spirituality at a very young age. His father, Pt. Roop Kishore was a learned Brahmin and mother, Dan Kunwari Devi, a simple, pious and deeply religious woman. Initiated into Gayatri Masntra at the age of 4 by none other than Pt. Madan Mohan Malvia, his father’s close friend, meditation came naturally to him. But later on at the call of his Sadguru on Basant Panchami day in 1926, he surrendered his whole life for the accomplishment of Divine Mission of reviving the Indian culture and wisdom of our ancient Rishis and laid the foundation
of the Gayatri Parivar by leading a life of a disciplined and severe austerity.
He penned all his thoughts in his books which he vowed, would bring a rennaisance in the world. According to him, India – a land of great Rishis and Munis, has been encroached upon by the Western culture which has led to the erosion and decline of moral values in the society. He believed that only good thoughts could purify the minds. A man becomes, what he thinks. In order to nourish and cultivate good thoughts, one should read good books. What we get in the market is only a trash which is sold for commercial purpose. With the result, there is widespread crimes and terror in the society.
This Book-Fair is a tribute to this Yug Rishi and Vishwamitra of modern era.
No doubt the fair is proving a big success. Thronged by several people, it is proving a big hit with people of all walks of life. The fair will conclude on 12 September.
